From a typical 1950s corridor house to a modern family home. The existing house consisted of small, dark and confined spaces. By opening up old ceilings and introducing new exposed rafters, we gave the existing narrow and dark house a much bigger sense of space and volume. The main bedroom wing - a new extension, is a fusion of glass and concrete, floating amidst nature. Old and new are stitched together by the cantilevering concrete roof slab. Every corner embraces the beautiful garden with floor to ceiling glazing allowing nature in at every opportunity. Inside meets outside - old meets new, creating a timeless home.
